Soon to be moving

So I'm writing this blog entry from Havelock, NC. For those that have not heard, Eric selected Harries West Coast on Monday. It's exciting for a lot of reasons, the first being we get to be back in North Carolina for about 8 months to a year. The second is that Eric is officially going to be flying a "grey jet" which basically means he's hit the big time! The third is that we'll be on Marine Corps bases (as opposed to Naval bases) for the next 3-4 years. After he goes through the FRS (Fleet Replacement Squadron), which is also called the RAG, we'll move to Yuma, Arizona for about 3 years.
The selection didn't exactly go as planned but everything happens for a reason and we're already enjoying our house hunting here around Cherry Point. We've looked at on-base housing today and several houses around Havelock. If we can get the one house we looked at on-base it would be perfect. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom renovated house that has an awesome water view. There's even a makeshift staircase off the back yard that heads down to the water where the dogs could swim and play in some sand. It's not really a beach (I probably wouldn't go swimming) but the girlses will love it! The only problem we'd have with the house is that it's technically for Captains and above (one rank above Eric). They may be willing to make an exception for several reasons; first being it's been vacant for 27 days and their cutoff is 30 before they'll drop the rank required to match Eric's current rank. The second reason they may help us out is the fact that Eric will pick up Captain in August while we were living in the house. Oh and they can't "save" the house until Eric has real detachment orders that won't be given to him until after the Winging Ceremony.
Overall we're going to leave here with several options that way if the base housing doesn't work then we've already planned ahead and can call once we have orders and get a house set away for our move.
Well....sorry this is soo short but it's time for bed for me. We're headed to New Bern tomorrow, which is about 15 mins north to see those houses.
Good Night and we can't wait to see everyone who's coming down for the Ceremony on Thursday!!!
