So were slowly getting everything settled in and yesterday we had our first taste of Mississippi weather. As you may have heard there were some pretty bad storms going though Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama yesterday. Those same storms apparently hit Raleigh today and produced a tornado outside of town. Here's a home video we found on YouTube of a tornado west of Jackson (which happens to be about an 1 1/2 hours west of us)
We found a place in the house that's an "inside" room to go in case of a tornado. There's a small "hallway" that connects the living room to two bedrooms and the bathroom. All the doors close down and it's got a floor to ceiling cabinet in there that we can store a "survival bag".
Yesterday we knew that the weather was going to be bad but when we started watching the news and hearing about tornadoes that were west of us and moving our way we started getting a little more prepared and paying attention more. Then the tornado sirens actually went off two different times and both Eric and I were checking the front and back door to judge the weather. Sure enough the wind did pick up a bit but then 30 mins later....it was over. Nice blue skies ...
So for anyone that was worried or had heard about the storms...We're safe and fine and going to be purchasing renter's insurance very soon!
We love you all and have no fear because hopefully the only time we'll be flying through the air in some crazy wind is when Eric's piloting a plane!
