So Eric is back from California and his CFET (Centrifuge-Based Flight Environment Trainer). It was a long trip back but we have a great video to share from his experience. First a screenshot so you'll know what everything is while watching it.
Now for your viewing pleasure...I give you Eric in the CFET!
The first profile that they run is to find out Eric's "resting G tolerance". He measured at a 4.5 G's before he would have had to change his breathing (apply the Anti G Straining Maneuver). The average resting G tolerance is usually between 3-4 G's. Now that being said, there are very few that are able to withstand 6 or even 7 G's before having to apply the AGSM. You'll hear coaching in the background of pointers that he was able to work on to make the AGSM (also known as HICK because of the noise you make) more effective, such as shoulders down and flexing. The other profiles are just training and learning how to best counter the G's
Definition of G-force: a unit of force equal to the force exerted by gravity; used to indicate the force to which a body is subjected when it is accelerated. Typically it means that the amount of G's your pulling is the amount the weight is multiplied by. (Pulling 4 G's means your body, blood, etc. is 4 times the normal weight)
By doing the AGSM you're counteracting the weight of your blood because when it gets heavier it falls from your brain and eyes which affects your vision and of course your cognitive ability. The G-suit does inflate but only offers you about 1 G of help because it's squeezing your blood from your legs back to the vital organs. It works in cooperation with your natural flexing and breathing and as you can see in the video when you hear Eric breathing you'll see the G-suit pressure lower and then raise back up.
Now originally, Eric was suppose to check out of NAS Whiting today but we still don't have an approved budget from Congress so we still don't have money for orders. Supposedly there's a rumor going around that there won't be orders for another 2 weeks. Let's hope that gouge is wrong! As of right now we have access to move into the new house on the 16th but without orders we can't get the PPO (personal property office) to authorize the move. If we move without their authorization then we don't get refunded for anything! So we'll wait till orders come to move but we may have to go ahead and start paying rent for the new house even though we can't move in. BOOOO! Sometimes it's just the way it goes. Can't really complain because ERIC'S GETTING TO FLY JETS!!!!!
Well we hope to see everyone soon and remember the house in Meridian will be open for visitors but we may have to travel a couple hours to have something to actually do.

That was AWESOME!! goooo Eric! I would have totally passed out at 4G's, I mean FOR REAL passed out haha. I almost passed out watching the video when I realized I was tensing all my muscles while sitting in this lazyboy watching him! lolol
